Personal Trainer Full Bio:
Hello, my name is Helen Helliwell, I’m a 53-year-old mother of two kids, 28/5 (yes really) who developed a passion into a business in the health and fitness world after I had to get myself physically good enough to pass several fitness tests to do my work in the emergency services alongside colleagues half my age. At the time the task was daunting as I had been in office work for 17 years but, I had wanted to do that type of work for many years so that gave me the incentive to do the training.
At the time I regularly dreaded the workouts, ensuring aching muscles for days afterwards and each time I approached the gym finding my legs were automatically aching at the thought of that running. You see it was boring training on my own and when my assessor at the first fitness test told me I ran “like a big girl’s blouse” I was furious but strangely energised to do something about it. So I walked into my local gym and requested the help of a personal trainer to get both my mind and body to do what I needed it to.
The training was hard and I struggled but each time I did it I knew it was getting better and finally having passed the tests at the grand age of 40, I got to work in my “dream job”. Sadly, I was not able to do the job for many years as I discovered the joys of both partners in a relationship working incompatible shifts and never seeing each other and so when a lady at my gym asked me why I did not do my training as a job, I had a “lightbulb” moment. I subsequently trained, studied and qualified as a personal trainer and then took my skills set even higher qualifying in specialist courses including cardiac rehabilitation, obesity, and diabetic management. I admit juggling studying/ working and a young daughter in your 50’s is interesting but it’s great fun and having the benefit of my private gym space means I can offer total flexibility of hours and days in complete privacy with indoor and outdoor space. Each workout is individual to the client designed to achieve whatever goals are planned and all workouts can be altered/modified/progressed as needed in each hour to ensure a great, fun and successful program is achieved.
I freely admit I love working and training outside and with the canopy and lighting of my rear outside space, we can do this 12 months a year whatever the weather which is great. I get to do my own workouts when I need to as I’m a keen and active rower myself and love to get the music going and do my own workouts in the fresh air while listening to great music at the same time.
